Our Story
We never know what we want to do in life when we’re young. I always enjoyed being outside as a child, growing up on farms where my mother had her horse and where going on walks with our pack of 5 dogs over heaths and woodlands was a daily ritual. In many ways, I was always besotted by nature's beauty, which inspired my interest in garden care.
When it came to academia, being trapped in a classroom to learn wasn’t fun for me. Being outdoors and playing all levels of sport from dawn till dusk kept me engaged; the fresh air and beautiful open spaces were where I was my happiest.
My first job at 14 involved helping an elderly gentleman maintain his garden every Saturday for 4 hours. He took me under his wing and showed me the basics of garden care until he sadly passed away, putting an end to what I had started to enjoy.
Upon leaving school and college, I worked in landscaping services, building, and the odd bit of gardening, but never found a concrete role. Eventually, I discovered a company where I stayed for 10 years, honing and mastering my knowledge.
ZEN has been growing in Surrey and the surrounding areas since our founding in February 2022, becoming a great example of what passion and commitment can achieve when fused together, showcasing our dedication to outdoor beauty.
